THE KITCHEN SINK

The kitchen sink is the focal point of the kitchen - how can it be a kitchen without a sink! Franke have perfected the art of the kitchen sink and make a multitude of designs to suit different installation requirements and the individual taste of the user. Since the introduction of the first sinks many decades ago, they are now available in modern materials to reflect the style of the kitchen. Stainless steel remains a popular option and Franke manufacture a wide range of sinks to be inset in the worktop, under-mounted beneath the worktop – given a suitable worktop material – or to be used as a stand-alone sink and work-area combination that can be set on supporting kitchen base units. Franke have perfected the kitchen work centre, where the basic sink package is enhanced with functional accessories, to make many standard culinary tasks easier to perform. Modern designs are also available in a composite material named Franke Fragranite, which is a combination of ground stone and synthetic resin. This combines to make an extremely hardwearing, colourfast material which is exclusive to Franke. It is available in a variety of colours to suit the modern kitchen. There are modern, dramatic colours such as Graphite (to resemble dark granite) & Polar White with a sparkly smooth finish, together with classic colours such as Champagne, Oatmeal and Granite white. Like the original Butler sinks, Franke still manufacture sinks in China fireclay ceramic material. This glossy white material offers a classic look to the "farmhouse" style of kitchen and is available in large single and double bowl configurations, as well as designs with 1.1/2 bowls and double bowls that can be inset or under-mounted. Franke are one of the leading sink manufacturers in the World today, with over 60 factories in 57 different countries dedicated to the manufacture of sinks, accessories and kitchen appliances. Cybernet Kitchens have been associated with Franke for over 30 years since their introduction into the United Kingdom in the early 70's and are a true specialist in all Franke products.

KITCHEN TAPS

As well as their comprehensive range of sinks, Franke also manufacture a vast range of mixer taps suitable for use in the kitchen. Franke were one of the pioneering companies in the use of Ceramic Disc Valve Cartridges in their taps. This makes the tap both extremely simple to operate - requiring only a quarter turn to operate the controls - and positive in operation performing a perfect shut-off when the water flow is turned off. These "CD" valves are very hard wearing and – if maintenance is required - are very quick and simple to replace; an operation often able to be performed by the user, without the need to book a plumber. Franke taps are available in two-lever designs, single lever and even with pull-out spray heads to provide additional functions.

Due to the increased demand upon our utilities and resources, another popular variant of the kitchen tap is as a dispenser of filtered water. Franke Triflow taps provide a dedicated supply of purified water through the operation of a third lever or handle. The tap is supplied complete with a filter system and unique Triflow Katadyne filter cartridge that will remove impurities, taint and bacteria from the water supply, providing a source of water as good as the best bottled water available from supermarkets, that the user would otherwise have to purchase in heavy containers that need to be transported home! The Triflow system is available in many different designs of tap incorporating the classic and modern styles popular in kitchens today.

Also available from Cybernet Kitchens is a new range of filter taps from Brita. The company are a well-known supplier of filtered water systems for the kitchen - Brita is almost a household name – but now they have teamed up with Francis Pegler, a quality UK manufacturer of brassware, to produce a special kitchen tap with 3 controls providing a dedicated source of Brita filtered water literally "on tap". The system uses a fully enclosed filter, which can be exchanged or installed without the need to turn off the water supply and incorporates a unique "Traffic Light" LED indicator on the tap that changes colour to denote the current state of the filter. When the LED turns red, the filter needs changing. This system is unique to Brita and takes the uncertainty out of when to change the filter to get the purest water.

Cybernet Kitchens also carry the product range from Perrin & Rowe - formerly marketed as the Atriflow range of kitchen taps. Manufactured in the UK to a very high standard of finish, Perrin & Rowe are well known for their Classic and Modern styles alike, which can compliment the designs of the Triflow products where there are 2 or more taps in the kitchen area (say, main preparation area and utlility sink). These taps are available in a wide range of finishes, including Chrome, Satin Chrome (also known as Silksteel to match the finish of stainless steel sinks), Nickel, Gold and combination finishes such as Nickel/Gold. Most of the designs from Perrin & Rowe are available with a separate rinse/spray device that extends from the worktop at the side of the tap on a flexible hose. This is a very useful accessory when washing salad items, or for dousing crockery stacked on the draining board to rinse off the soapy residue after washing-up.
